Wystan Hugh Auden (1907-1973) was born in 1907. He won the Pulitzer Prize in 1948, for his collection The Age of Anxiety. He was a versatile and intellectually vigorous poet, verse dramatist, critic, translator and editor. Poetry to him was a ‘serious game’ which should deepen people’s self awareness but it should in no case directly affect men’s political or religious choices. As a technician, Auden explored a variety of stanza forms and meters.

He left England as early as 1939 to settle permanently in the United States. The notable works of the English phase are. The Orators, The Dance of Death, Look Stranger, Spain and Another time. “Now The Leaves Are Falling Fast” has been written by Wystan Hugh Auden. It is a song of a beautiful season. It is a simple poem about Nature. The poem dwells upon the season that when this season comes the leaves start to falling fast. Leaves leave its branches and some small branches start to come out.

When leaves come down from their branches, they (leaves) cover the ground. All the trees are covered with snow and it’s a very beautiful sight. The poet, wants to say that in this season all the branches of trees become leafless. The wonderful bird Nightingale becomes dumb to see this season. He wants to do something from his hands but it becomes freeze, lonely on the separate knees.

कवि वाइसटन हग ऑडेन द्वारा रचित कविता “नाऊ द लीव्स आर फॉलिग फास्ट” एक सुन्दर ऋतु के बारे में रचना है। कवि ने इसमें अलग-अलग ऋतु के बारे में बताया है। उन्होंने कहा है कि इस मौसम में पेड़ से पत्ते गिरने लगते हैं। पत्ते पेड़ की शाखा को छोड़ देते हैं और धीरे-धीरे नयी शाखाएँ निकलना शुरू हो जाती हैं। सभी शाखाएं बर्फ से ढंक जाती हैं और यह देखने में बहुत सुन्दर लगता है ।

‘बाइसटन हग ऑडेन’ यहाँ यह कहना चाहते हैं कि इस मौसम में जितनी भी शाखाएँ हैं वे पत्ते रहित हो जाती हैं और वे ऐसा प्रतीत होती हैं जैसे कि एक गंजा आदमी। इस मौसम के आने के कारण सुन्दर चिड़ियाँ बुलबुल अपना गीत गाना बन्द कर देती है। इस मौसम में सभी लोगों के हाथ बर्फ से जम जाते हैं।
